Amy Shedd died in 1921
In 1921, Amy Shedd, a longtime resident of Lowell, MA, died at the age of 84. She had been married twice previously. The first marriage, to Samuel Shedd, took place in Boston in 1665. They had one son, John, and two daughters, Mary and Elizabeth. Amy was born in Boston and died in 1921.
Freeman Shedd donated 50 acres of land to Lowell
Freeman Shedd donated 50 acres of his land to the City of Lowell, Massachusetts, and named it Shedd Park. Freeman and his wife, Amy, had three children. Two of them died in childhood, including one who was stillborn. Eli Hoyt Shedd died at age eight, of cerebro spinal meningitis. After Eli’s death, Freeman donated the land and erected a receiving chapel in his memory in the Lowell cemetery. This receiving chapel remains active in the city’s cemetery today.
